Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) has been announced the Gold Award winner among the three finalists, two other organizations from Mexico and from UAE for the Community Service/ Development Project Award 2016 from International Project Management Association (IPMA) from Poland.

IPMA is the World’s first project management association, founded in 1965. Their national associations collaborate to advance their profession’s achievements in project and business success.

The project presented to the competition was on the formalizing and strengthening of women enterprises through a Business Clinic, which was implemented from March – September 2016 with the support of ILO WOI Project (International Labor Organization – Way out of Informality Project). The project aimed to formalize and strengthen women led SMEs in Nepal, capacitating women led SMEs for entrepreneurship development, business planning, marketing, establishing linkages with banks, orienting them on the importance of registration, facilitating them to be legally registered and build their capacities to enhance their business enterprises. The program was focused in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts.

The announcement was made on 18 November 2016 in Warsaw, Poland and the award was received by IPMA President Reinhard Wagner. It will be handed to FWEAN when he visits Nepal in December.

FWEAN just signed on October 18th, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with King's College to conduct a research on Women Entrepreneurship Environment in Nepal.
With an interest to promote issues related to women entrepreneurship and women empowerment, and discussion regarding the same in the national as well as international paradigm, the partnership of an academic institution with a national network of women entrepreneurs is very essential.

King’s college, as one of the leading academic institutions dedicated to entrepreneurship and national development, and FWEAN, as a network of women entrepreneurs establish to foster and promote women empowerment through entrepreneurship, will cooperate and organize jointly research activities and determine whether the women entrepreneurial environment has ability to lure and facilitate maximum number of women entrepreneurs.

The result of this research will be published on our website and facebook in January 2017.
